Founded in 1991, the Corcovado Foundation supports and improves existing conservation efforts in the rainforest of Costa Rica’s Osa Peninsula’s, one of the most bio-diverse areas on the planet. The Tourism Cares Worldwide Grant funding assisted a program aiming to “Promote Sustainable Tourism to Conserve Biodiversity in the Osa Peninsula” for both the local population and visitors. The program provides workshops to educate hoteliers and other tourist companies about environmentally-friendly “best practices”, as well as travelers, through “Eco-tips” on how to behave more responsibly in natural areas and around wildlife.
