n 2004, the Bioplaneta Network in Mexico received $10,000 in Tourism Cares Worldwide Grant funds for its Ecotourism Network Project. Bioplaneta supports community-run Mexican ecotourism as a new way of providing environmental, econmic, and social benefits to various places in Mexico. The grant helped the nonprofit organization produce literature for this initiative that educates the public and potential tourists about the environmental and social impact of their visits. The project has strong local and governmental support.
