Cornerstones Community Partnerships, Santa Fe, NM, for Pueblo of Acoma, NM
 
 
In 2005, Cornerstones Community Partnerships in Santa Fe, New Mexico received $10,000 in Tourism Cares Worldwide Grant funding for the San Esteban Del Rey, a 17th-century mission church, at the Pueblo of Acoma. Cornerstones is a unique organization that assists communities in the preservation of historic structures, promotes the use of centuries-old building practices, and supports the continuum of cultural values and heritage unique to the Americn West. The mission building, begun in 1629, is among the first missions in New Mexico. Situated atop a 350-foot mesa, it is one of the largest adobe structures in the world. The grant helped provide preservation expertise, technical training, and project development assistance to the mission.
