The 6-million-acre Adirondack Park is a significant component of the United Nations-designated Champlain-Adirondack Biosphere Reserve, which attracts more than 12 million visitors annually. The publication FootNotes of the Adirondacks is an educational tool to inform visitors and locals alike about their ecological impact on the forest preserve. It also serves to encourage personal responsibility through minimal impact practices, such as “Leave No Trace”. Education will lead to the protection of the natural resources of the region and maintain the quality of the recreational experience for current visitors and future generations. The Tourism Cares grant assisted with the publication and distribution of FootNotes of the Adirondacks.
