As Cambodia’s top tourist destination, Angkor World Heritage Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, receives more than 700,000 visitors annually. Angkor is one of the most important archaeological sites in Southeast Asia. Stretching 250 square miles, including a forested area, the park contains the magnificent remains of the capitals of the Khmer Empire, from the 9th to the 15th century. Heritage Watch is a group of international scholars promoting greater public awareness of Cambodia’s cultural heritage through responsible tourism and sustainable development.
The Tourism Cares grant will aid in the production of a newsletter and other educational material, including visitor guidelines. It will also help provide certification for businesses practicing responsible tourism.
