Sample Itinerary

*In addition to group activities, we will branch out into three tracks to best explore the heritage, social impact or the environment of Jordan. 

Day 1: Friday, February 23, 2018

- Arrivals in Amman

- Informal welcome gathering at the Marriott

Day 2: Saturday, Feb. 24

- Get Out and See Jordan: follow one of three tracks to see the Roman ruins of Jerash, the new Jordan Trail or the inspiring Iraq al Amir Women’s Cooperative

- Welcome Reception in Amman hosted by the Minister of Tourism and Antiquities and the Jordan Tourism Board

Day 3: Sunday, Feb. 25

- Discover and overnight at the Dead Sea

- Meaningful Travel Celebration featuring: Jordan NGOs; Mr. Taleb Rifai, UNWTO Secretary General; Mr. Ibrahim Osta, Siyaha Jordan (invited); and Sebastien Marot, Skoll Foundation Social Entrepreneur and founder of Friends-International

Day 4: Monday, Feb. 26

- Social impact experiences, from the Dead Sea to Petra:

The heritage track gets an early start at Petra and the Wadi Musa craft cooperatives; social impact spends a day with the Zikra Initiative and cultural tourism through agriculture; the environment track visits the Dana Biosphere Reserve

- Evening reception and overnight at the Petra Marriott, with a community evening with the three cafts cooperatives in Wadi Musa

Day 5: Tuesday, Feb. 27

- Discover the Wonders of Petra –and Give Back: morning guided tour of Petra Archaeological Park

- Afternoon volunteering at the Temple of the Winged Lion and Petra’s environs, with the American Center for Oriental Research and Petra National Trust

- Farewell reception amid the history and magic of Little Petra

Day 6: Wednesday, February 28

- Departures or extensions, courtesy of the Jordan Tourism Board (e.g. Wadi Rum, Dana Biosphere Preserve, Jordan Trail hikes, Aqaba, etc.)
