  • Graduate students must be able to demonstrate a clear focus on and commitment to the tourism-subject area.
  • Students may apply for scholarships during the spring semester of 2010 for a scholarship that will cover the fall semester of 2010.

2010 Scholarship Application Policies:

  • Application takes place through the Tourism Cares STARS Online Scholarship Application platform, which is designed, once you have registered, to help you determine which scholarships you may eligible for, what documents are requested for different scholarships, and how to apply. The ONLY web browser a person can use to access the STARS platform is Internet Explorer Version 6 or higher.

  • A student may apply for up to two different Tourism Cares scholarships per academic year; a student may only apply for one ASTA scholarship and one NTA scholarship for which he/she is eligible (NOT two ASTA ones and NOT two NTA ones). The only exceptions are for the ASTA David J. Hallissey Memorial Undergraduate or Graduate Internship and the NTA Mayflower Tours Patrick Murphy Undergraduate or Graduate Internship where you may ONLY apply for one total.

  • Tourism Cares requires the student to request an official copy of his/her transcript be sent directly from the applicant’s school to Tourism Cares at 275 Turnpike Street, Suite 307, Canton, MA 02021, USA, Attention: Transcript. Only one copy of the transcript is required even if the student is applying for two scholarships. It is the responsibility of the student to ensure that the transcript arrives by the deadline date. It often takes up to 4 weeks for official transcripts to be sent, so please request your transcript as soon as you know you are applying.
  • Incomplete applications will not be considered.

2010 Scholarship Award Policy:

  • A student may win only one scholarship award from Tourism Cares per academic year (meaning fall and spring semesters-not calendar year).
  • Each undergraduate scholarship award can be used to cover expenses for tuition, books, and educational fees only.
  • Each graduate scholarship award can be used to cover expenses for tuition, books, educational fees, and research-related expenses only.

Your current web browser must be updated to version 7 of Internet Explorer (IE7) to take advantage of all of template's capabilities.

Why should I upgrade to Internet Explorer 7? Microsoft has redesigned Internet Explorer from the ground up, with better security, new capabilities, and a whole new interface. Many changes resulted from the feedback of millions of users who tested prerelease versions of the new browser. The most compelling reason to upgrade is the improved security. The Internet of today is not the Internet of five years ago. There are dangers that simply didn't exist back in 2001, when Internet Explorer 6 was released to the world. Internet Explorer 7 makes surfing the web fundamentally safer by offering greater protection against viruses, spyware, and other online risks.
