Tourism Cares is offering upt to 22 Professional Development Scholarships, ranging from $350 to $3,000, for an annual total of more than $25,850 The Professional Development Scholarships benefit those currently working or looking to enter careers in the travel or tourism industries with the goal of strengthening the travel and tourism workforce through continued education.
Eligible applicants will be registering for a travel or tourism related professional development certificate program or eligible industry conference before September 15th, 2015.
Scholarship Application Opens: September 15, 2014 - ONLINE APPLICATION HAS NOW CLOSED. Scholarship recipients will be announced in early December.
Scholarship Application Deadline: November 3, 2014

Tourism Cares Professional Development Scholarships are offered through one general online application with eligibility categories:

General Application Criteria for all Tourism Cares Professional Development Scholarships:
Applicants must be intending to register for an accredited travel or tourism program taking place at an accredited educational institution in the United States, Canada, Guam or Puerto Rico. OR intending to register for the following industry conferences: 2015 ASTA International Destination Expo, 2015 ASTA Global Convention, 2015 ITMI Travel Symposium.
All applicants must be either entering or working within the travel or tourism industry or be educators of travel, tourism or hospitality.
Awards will be issued directly to certificate provider or conference proivder upon submission or proof of registration. Registration for professional development program must take place before September 15, 2015.
OVERALL GIVING, AND EVALUATION AND SELECTION PROCESS:
Applications are evaluated by the Tourism Cares Professional Development Scholarship Selection Committees, consisting of travel, tourism, and hospitality educators and industry professionals from across the United States and Canada. The committee's decisions are reported to the Tourism Cares Board of Directors. Scholarship eligibility criteria are determined by each fund donor contact.
The $2.1 million in endowed scholarship funds were established by individual and corporate donors as well as the travel and tourism industry associations American Society of Travel Agents (ASTA), International Association of Travel Agents Network (IATAN) and NTA.
