The Tourism Cares Scholarship Review Committee selects scholarship recipients each year from hundreds of qualified applicants. In addition to offering academic scholarships, Tourism Cares also offers professional development scholarships.

The current endowment Tourism Cares administers, which totals nearly $2 million, includes the American Society of Travel Agents (ASTA), NTA, and IATAN Scholarship Funds, having provided scholarships to over 500 students. Additional information about the Tourism Cares Student Programs, including scholarships, can be found on the website.

2011 Scholarship Recipients

Tourism Cares awarded $88,500 in Undergraduate and Graduate Scholarships in 2011 to 62 students across the United States and Canada. The scholarships are awarded annually to students pursuing travel-and-tourism or hospitality related programs of study at accredited colleges and universities.

“We and the fund donors take great pride in providing financial assistance and encouragement to these students as they pursue their educational and professional goals in travel and tourism,” said Bruce Beckham, Executive Director at Tourism Cares.

In addition to monetary awards ranging from $1,000 to $5,000, the academic scholarship recipients are also invited to attend the annual NTA Convention in Las Vegas, Nevada early December, where they will experience a travel, tourism, and hospitality trade show firsthand and shadow industry professionals during their actual business appointments.
