Our industry, when used in action, can be a tool to combat some of the world’s greatest challenges.  The Tourism Cares Inspiration Exchange (TCiX) brings cross-sectors of the travel industry together to engage in conversation, education and in-community visits designed to drive social impact through our work.

We will look at how tourism companies can specifically invest in the UN Sustainable Development Goals - using them as a guideline to further their social impact. How can we commit to make the world a better place through tourism? TCiX provides the space for the industry to engage, problem solve and meet like-minded professionals working in this space.

TCiX was inspired in part by the NYC & Company Tourism Ready Program - a program that pairs education and business-to-business partnership building to help communities welcome more visitors. TCiX delegates will enjoy those one-of-a-kind experiences as they themselves will participate on a tour led by individuals who have completed the NYC & Company Tourism Ready program to see first-hand what they have to offer both visitors and their local communities.

Our education sessions during our Inspiration Exchange will focus on the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and will feature non-profits and organizations committed to changing the world through those goals every day. Participants will learn from our speakers through mini-pitch presentations on how their organization has embedded the SDGs in the ethos of their work. This will be followed by a workshop facilitated by Impact2030 that will help you discover sustainable, scalable, and action-oriented solutions towards the SDGs. Featured companies include: Intrepid, Nilus, World Animal Protection, Cathay Pacific, Hostelling International, NYC & Company, the Maasai Stove & Solar Project, Impulse Travel, and many more.

In 2018, New York City welcomed more than 65 million visitors with a projected economic impact of $68 billion. To ensure that the success of the city’s tourism industry reaches into neighborhoods throughout all five boroughs, NYC & Company, the City’s official destination marketing organization and convention and visitors bureau, developed the NYC & Company Tourism Ready Program. Through educational programming and business-to-business partnership building, this innovative program helps communities welcome more visitors, which in turn helps visitors explore more of NYC.

As visitors continue to seek out unique and authentic ways to explore New York City’s hundreds of neighborhoods, local businesses and attractions that provide one-of-a-kind experiences can benefit enormously from learning how to work directly with the travel industry.
