Meaningful Travel with England

See Britain Differently through England’s Meaningful Travel Map

VisitBritain, in partnership with VisitEngland, is delighted to launch England’s Meaningful Travel Map. Regenerative tourism and responsible travel are key principles of these organizations’ strategies for growing the visitor economy in an inclusive, accessible, and sustainable way. In consultation with the Local Visitor Economy Partnership (LVEP) Programme, the England Meaningful Travel Map provides an innovative way to raise awareness of the importance of sustainable growth in England’s visitor economy landscape.

VisitEngland is leading the regenerative tourism approach across England, collaborating with the Local Visitor Economy Partnerships (LVEPs) to support the industry. It is committed to working with its stakeholders to support tourism businesses and grow the visitor economy in an inclusive, accessible, and sustainable way, ensuring that every corner of England continues to be a fantastic place to visit.

England’s Regenerative Tourism Initiatives

VisitEngland drives positive transformation for people and places using four core pathways:

  • People (communities and visitors)

  • Place (climate change, nature and responsible resource use);

  • Partnerships (governance and collaboration);

  • Growth (quality jobs, training, and sustainable innovation).

It encourages people to work together to shift how things are done so that everyone and everything benefits.

"Partnering with Tourism Cares reflects our commitment to responsible travel. This new map for England builds on the Meaningful Travel Map already available in Scotland, showcasing Britain’s wide range of responsible tourism experiences. It makes it easier for visitors from the US and around the world to explore thoughtfully while connecting with local communities, supporting small businesses, and protecting the landscapes and heritage that make these destinations so special.”
