Keynote

Thon Thamrongnawasawat | Kasetsart University

Assist. Prof. Dr. Thon Thamrongnawasawat is a marine scientist and communicator who serves as Deputy Dean for Special Affairs at the Faculty of Fisheries, Kasetsart University, where he has taught marine science since 1995. He holds a Ph.D. from James Cook University, Australia, which he calls a “heaven for nature lovers,” and B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees from Chulalongkorn University, Thailand.
Driven by a passion to “tell people about the sea,” Dr. Thon has led high-profile conservation efforts, including the closure and restoration of Maya Bay and the designation of Bryde’s whale, Omura’s whale, whale shark, and leatherback sea turtle as protected species. His work addresses coral reefs, seagrass, endangered species, climate change, and marine debris, blending science, policy, and public engagement.
Recognized nationally and internationally, he has received the Thailand Science Communication Award (2025), the Thailand Sustainability Shaper Award (2021), and the National Geographic Thailand Explorer Award (2019).

Malinee Nitikasetsunthorn | Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT)

With over 30 years of distinguished service at the Tourism Authority of Thailand, Malinee brings extensive experience and proven leadership in international tourism marketing. She has been instrumental in strengthening Thailand’s presence across the Americas, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, building strategic global partnerships and reinforcing the country as a world-class destination. Supported by a strong academic background in accountancy and tourism marketing, her career embodies a combination of strategic vision, cultural understanding, and hands-on expertise that continues to drive Thailand’s tourism success story.

  • Siripakorn Cheawsamoot | Designated Areas for Sustainable Tourism Administration (DASTA)

    Mr. Siripakorn Cheawsamoot, the Director-General of Designated Areas for Sustainable Tourism Administration (DASTA), widely known as "Director Tan", has over 35 years of experience in the demand side of Thailand's tourism industry at the Tourism Authority of Thailand. He has played a key role in promoting, marketing and public relations, working in collaboration with various organizations across both public and private sectors at domestic and international levels. His expertise spans major international tourism markets across different continents as the Deputy Governor for International Marketing - Europe, Americas, Middle East, and Africa, a role he held until 5 April 2025. Now, Director Tan has transitioned to the supply side of Thailand’s tourism sector, having been appointed as the Director-General of DASTA since April 21, 2025. In this role, he is responsible for developing policies and strategic plans, coordinating efforts among government authorities, private entities, and local communities in DASTA’s designated areas in order to implement tourism plans and achieve sustainable tourist destination development. His works aim to ensure high-quality tourism management, and to efficiently address challenges and achieve sustainable tourism through the mobilization of personnel, budgets, and sustainable development tools.

  • Greg Takehara | Tourism Cares

    Greg has been the CEO of Tourism Cares since 2019. He previously served on its board of directors, acting as its Chairman before becoming CEO. Prior to Tourism Cares, Greg was the president of Trip Mate, Inc., a travel insurance administrator. He began his 35-year career in the travel and tourism industry at The Mark Travel Corporation, where he served as general counsel. 

    Greg serves on the board of the U.S. Travel Association and has served on the boards of NTA and the IGLTA Foundation, as well as numerous industry committees. He is from Chicago and has an undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin–Madison and a juris doctor degree from Washington University in St. Louis. He currently resides in Orlando, Florida. 

Panel 1 | Destination Stewardship in Krabi

Krabi’s breathtaking beauty comes with a shared responsibility to protect its ecosystems, uplift its communities, and ensure tourism benefits everyone, not just in the short term but for future generations. This panel will explore what meaningful destination stewardship looks like in Krabi today, through the perspectives of those who live, work, and lead in the region.

The conversation will highlight the evolving role of local leadership, sustainable development, and community-driven tourism in building a more resilient and inclusive future for Krabi. Panelists will share practical insights from their work in tourism, grassroots organizing, and small business, offering real examples of how stewardship is practiced and what support is still needed.

This session will be moderated by a representative from the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) and will bring together diverse voices driving positive change across the region. We’d love to feature your voice as we bring together local leaders who are helping shape the future of tourism in Krabi, from community-led initiatives and environmental protection to inclusive planning and visitor engagement.

  • Sobhana “Tippi” Sucharitakul | Tourism Authority of Thailand

    Sobhana Tippi Sucharitakul is a hospitality industry veteran. With over 35 years of experiences working for both Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) in Bangkok and Los Angeles, Novotel Hotel Bangkok as well as Edelman Public Relations, she is currently a Marketing Manager of the TAT - Los Angeles. Prior to her post in Los Angeles, she was the Chief of Youth Travel Coordination section. Since then, she has been working with all entities related to sustainability and community based tourism. She is an alumni of UCLA Anderson School and has an educational background in hospitality.

  • Panot Pakongsup (Tung) | Thai Responsible Tourism Association

    With over 20 years of leadership and practical experience, Panot Pakongsup (Tung) is dedicated to developing tourism that benefits both people and the planet, from local communities to global contexts. He began his career in tourism as a restaurateur and volunteer in rural northern Thailand, where he developed a strong commitment to Responsible Tourism.

    Since then, Tung has held a variety of progressively responsible roles across sectors. These include serving as CEO and Founder of Tour Merg Tai, a specialist in Community-Based Tourism (CBT); President and Co-founder of the Thailand Responsible Tourism Association (TRTA); Community Development Specialist for the Planeterra Foundation; and a frequent project manager and resource person for government and NGO tourism research and development projects.

  • Sakaowrat (Bah) Wansuk | Ban Nai Nang

    Born and raised in Krabi, Sakaowrat Wansuk (Bah) grew up surrounded by natural beauty and a strong sense of community. Studies both within Thailand and abroad broadened her worldview, strengthened her adaptability, and deepened her appreciation for the potential of her local community.

    Bah earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Tourism Management from Mae Fah Luang University, where she developed key skills in tourism management and gained valuable insights into the power of travel and cultural exchange. Inspired by these experiences, she is passionate about promoting sustainable tourism in her hometown, creating opportunities for new jobs, increasing local income, and enhancing the quality of life for the village community through tourism and meaningful travel.

  • Wichupan Srisanya | Thai Hotels Association

    Wichupan Phukaoluan Srisanya is a hospitality and tourism leader with extensive experience in advancing sustainable tourism in Thailand. She is the former President of the Krabi Hotel Association, where she played a pivotal role in strengthening the province’s hospitality sector and championing the “Krabi Go Green” initiative to promote carbon-neutral and eco-friendly practices among hotels. Currently, she serves as Vice President of the Tourism Council of Thailand, representing the private sector at the national level and working closely with government and industry stakeholders to shape policies that foster inclusive growth and long-term competitiveness for Thai tourism. With a strong background in international business and hotel management, Wichupan has been actively involved in promoting community engagement, wellness tourism, and innovation-driven strategies that position Thailand as a leading global destination. She is deeply committed to balancing economic development with environmental stewardship and cultural preservation.

  • Ewan Cluckie | Tripseed

    Economic Distribution Disclosure Initiative

    Ewan Cluckie is the Co-Founder and Chief Growth Officer of Tripseed, a social purpose Destination Management Company based in Thailand. Tripseed crafts refined, tailor-made travel experiences for the international travel trade, while reinvesting over 50% of profits into initiatives that support local communities, champion gender equity, and promote economic transparency. A passionate advocate for responsible tourism, Ewan led the development of Tripseed’s pioneering Economic Distribution Disclosure Initiative and helped the company become one of only a handful of tourism businesses to join the Social Enterprise Thailand Association. With a background in global tour operator marketing and a Master’s in Marketing from Manchester Business School, Ewan now focuses on advancing inclusive, ethical, and legally compliant tourism practices across Southeast Asia. At the 2025 Global Meaningful Travel Summit, he is representing Tripseed’s commitment to building a more equitable and accountable future for travel.

  • Vincie Ho | RISE Travel Institute

    Meaningful Travel Begins with Education

    Vincie Ho, Ph.D. is the Founder and Executive Director of RISE Travel Institute, a 501(c)3 nonprofit with a mission to create a more just and equitable world through travel education. She also serves as faculty at Antioch University, teaching human rights for their graduate programs in humane education. A disruptor, nonprofit leader, seasoned educator and woman immigrant of color with a hearing disability, Vincie is dedicated to driving systems change and fostering a community of conscious travelers through creating space for critical and intersectional conversations on power dynamics and justice issues in travel and beyond. In recognition of her impactful work, Vincie was nominated by tourism industry peers and honored on TravelPulse's prestigious List of Most Influential Women in Travel for 2024.

  • Kelly Galaski | Planeterra

    Community Tourism Impact Measurement

    Kelly Galaski is a sustainable tourism professional with 25 years’ experience across the hospitality & tourism for- and non-profit sectors. From 11 years Kelly worked with rural and Indigenous communities on community tourism experience development at Planeterra, and served as Director of Global Programs for four years.  During that time she also developed responsible travel policies and sustainability practices for G Adventures.  From 2022 to 2024 Kelly served as a Sustainable Tourism Specialist at the Travel Foundation, working with destinations globally toward achieving climate-positive and equitable tourism goals via destination stewardship strategies and capacity building programs.  In 2024 Kelly returned to Planeterra where she now serves as Senior Director of Operations & Head of Global Impact. Kelly is passionate about the role tourism can play in community development, uplifting marginalized and underrepresented people and communities worldwide as well as in conservation, nature restoration, and climate resilience.

John Sutherland | Tourism Cares

John Sutherland brings a dynamic approach to the travel and tourism industry, combining over a decade of experience in corporate social responsibility (CSR), community engagement, and sustainable travel. Currently serving as the Sr. Director of Community Impact at Tourism Cares, John oversees impactful programs, including in-person and digital events, professional sustainability training, the Meaningful Travel Map, and grant initiatives that support nonprofits and community organizations.

Before joining Tourism Cares, John led the development of a holistic CSR program at Collette, one of the world’s oldest tour operators, where he managed the annual philanthropy budget, championed environmental initiatives, and built cross-functional partnerships to drive positive change. With a foundation in customer service, product operations, tour guiding, and even academia, John brings a versatile perspective to his work.

An advocate for the intersection of business and purpose, John believes the travel industry can serve as a force for good, creating meaningful connections while preserving the environment and enriching communities. When he’s not working, John enjoys walking his dog, Argos, learning to play bass guitar, and exploring the possibilities of AI.

Panel 2 | Food: Sustainability, Culture, Inclusion

This panel will bring together chefs, growers, and food changemakers to explore how food can serve as a powerful medium for cultural connection, sustainability, and inclusion. Food is both an expression of identity and a platform for regenerative practices and this session will spotlight those working at the heart of that intersection.

Moderated by Quayla Allen-Comella, an inclusion & impact strategist and culinary tourism scholar recognized as a DEIA Visionary by the LA Times, this conversation will dig into how culinary traditions, land stewardship, and inclusive food experiences can shape more meaningful and sustainable travel and nourish both people and planet.

  • Quayla Allen-Comella | Wynn and Noble

    Quayla Allen-Comella is a culinary tourism scholar and impact strategist with over a decade of experience advancing inclusion and belonging for underrepresented communities.

    In 2022, The LA Times named her a DEIA Visionary for her leadership in designing and facilitating Safety & Belonging for the Sundance Film Festival. From moderating discussions at conferences and events to serving as a James Beard Foundation Media Awards judge and a board member at Film Pittsburgh, Quayla is a proud amplifier of bold voices and developing new audiences across film and media, food, and tourism.

    As a freelance writer, her work has appeared in Food & Beverage Insider, The Infatuation, and tourism publications. Through her consultancy, Wynn & Noble, Quayla draws on the legacy of Black women as wayfinders—especially her grandmother and great aunt—to curate inclusive, culturally grounded experiences for travelers and tourism organizations, spanning from the table to the road and everywhere in between.

    Quayla lives in Pittsburgh among a vibrant community of agriculturalists and gastronomists, alongside her husband, Ryan, and their senior Chihuahua-Dachshund mix, Rod.

  • Alisara Sivayathorn | Cafe Jardin

    Alisara Sivayathorn is the CEO of Sivatel Bangkok Hotel, a five-star sustainable hotel in the heart of Bangkok. Guided by the Sufficiency Economy Philosophy of King Rama IX, she has reimagined hotel operations as a force for social and environmental good. Under her leadership, Sivatel Bangkok and its restaurant, Café Jardin, have achieved zero food waste to landfill through the award-winning program “From Kitchen to Chicken and Beyond”—turning scraps into protein-rich feed for organic chickens and supporting local farms in the process. Alisara believes that hotels, no matter their size, can be powerful change agents. In the era of global boiling and climate crisis, waiting is no longer an option. Her mission is to inspire small and mid-sized hotels to act now—proving that meaningful impact doesn’t require massive investment, just a mindset shift and the courage to take responsibility.

  • Chutima Limpasurat | Sukhothai Hotel

    Chutima Limpasurat is the Director of Marketing Communications at The Sukhothai Bangkok, where she oversees brand strategy, public relations, and integrated communications for one of Bangkok’s most iconic luxury hotels. With extensive experience in hospitality marketing, she is dedicated to strengthening The Sukhothai’s reputation as a timeless landmark while driving innovative campaigns that connect with global and local audiences.

  • Krittaya Sirimongkolsatian (Pang) | - Poomjai Gardens

    Pang is the Owner of Poomjai Garden, a cultural and ecological space in Bangkok that blends Thai tradition with modern hospitality. She is passionate about creating meaningful experiences for visitors through Thai culinary workshops, arts and crafts activities, and immersive cultural programs. Under her guidance, Poomjai Garden has become a place where people can slow down, reconnect with nature, and explore the beauty of Thai heritage.

    Beyond the garden, Pang actively supports community initiatives, from canal clean-up projects to collaborations with local schools. She is dedicated to promoting sustainability and providing platforms for young talents in traditional music and dance to showcase their skills.

    As a mother, Pang also brings her values of creativity and social responsibility into family life, nurturing her son’s love for art, music, and community work. For her, Poomjai Garden is not just a venue, but a living expression of culture, care, and connection.

  • Alyssa Sands | EF Ultimate Break

    Alyssa Sands is the Director of Market Development at EF Ultimate Break, where she leads tour portfolio strategy, market expansion, and destination innovation for 18–35-year-old travelers. With a background in international event planning and a passion for meaningful, immersive experiences, she’s helped launch over 50 travel itineraries across five continents. Alyssa is particularly focused on integrating responsible tourism into EF Ultimate Break’s offerings—collaborating with communities, creative partners, and global teams to bring culturally rich, socially conscious travel to life. She’s a frequent traveler, proud New Englander, and firm believer that the best stories come from the people you meet along the way.

  • Nan Suwaree

    Nan Suwaree, originally from Northern Thailand, was born and raised in Lampang. She earned her degree in the Art Program in English from Naresuan University in 2006. With 17 years of experience as a tour guide, Nan has developed a deep passion for cultural exchange and sharing the rich history and beauty of Southeast Asia. She has led guided tours throughout Thailand, Laos, Myanmar, Vietnam, Cambodia, Malaysia, Singapore, and Indonesia.

    During the COVID-19 outbreak, when tourism was heavily impacted, Nan took on a role as a transport officer, working in a technical capacity to support transportation operations. In her free time, she enjoys gardening and snorkeling.

  • Kotchaporn Tolahbut (Molly)

    Kotchaporn Tolahbut (Molly) was born in a small town in northern Thailand called Lampang. She graduated from Naresuan University, Phayao Campus, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and also completed certified tour guide license courses.

    Molly is a seasoned travel operation specialist with over 15 years of experience in the tourism industry. She specializes in Southeast Asian destinations and is skilled in both leading tours and managing tour operations. Her passion lies in creating memorable travel experiences that leave a lasting impression on her clients.

    In her free time, Molly enjoys cooking and spending time with family and friends.

  • Wanvipa Phanumat | Local Alike

    Collaboration for Empowering Responsible Community-based Tourism: from Local to Global

    Miss Wanvipa Phanumat has been involved in sustainable tourism management and community-based tourism development in Thailand for more than 20 years both in academic, public, and private sector. With a strong interest in sustainable tourism and belief in community empowerment, she is currently working as Chief Operating Officer at Local Alike Co., Ltd., a social enterprise committed to elevating the quality of life in local communities through sustainable and regenerative tourism. Previously, she served as the Director for Office of Community-based Tourism at Designated Areas for Sustainable Tourism Administration (Public Organization). She has been working with more than 100 communities around Thailand to develop sustainable community-based tourism projects with the objective of making sure the local community can yield the benefits from tourism development in the long term.

  • Vijo Varghese | Our Land

    Privatized Conservation: Designing Land with Elephants and People in Mind

    Vijo Varghese is the co-founder of OurLand Nature Reserve and Education Center in Kanchanaburi, Thailand. The reserve serves as a vital wildlife corridor for wild Asian elephants and many other species, connecting fragmented habitats near the Salakphra Sanctuary. An environmentalist at heart, Vijo left a corporate career to follow his passion for protecting wild spaces. At OurLand, he leads snake and wildlife rescue efforts, educates on the welfare of both captive and wild elephants, and welcomes schools and universities to learn directly from nature. He works closely with children and communities to address biophobia—the fear of nature—through playful, hands-on experiences that inspire people to reconnect with the natural world.

  • Sarah Payne | UnTours

    Impact Investing

    Sarah Payne is the Senior Director of Impact & Operations at the UnTours Foundation, which has spent over 30 years investing its entire endowment into changemaking businesses around the world. The UnTours Foundation is also the proud owner of the world’s first Certified B Corporation, UnTours, a slow travel company that donates 100% of its profits to the foundation. Joining the team in 2023 as the foundation launched its Reset Tourism Fund, Sarah leads the management of the foundation's investment portfolio with a focus on providing flexible, affordable capital to small tourism businesses. Sarah has an interdisciplinary background history, business, and economic development which led her to study social entrepreneurship while earning her Master of Business Administration in Economic Development from Eastern University. She spent her early career consulting with businesses to improve their social and environmental impact, believing passionately in the power of people to use business as a force for good.
