The SISAN Artisans Association is a collective of women entrepreneurs that was formed around 2013-2014 through a community initiative promoted by the museum and the Ministry of Culture. Through this project, the artisans design, embroider, paint, and create handmade products inspired by the iconography of the Pachacamac Archaeological Sanctuary. Learn traditional techniques from local artisans while creating your own handmade art piece inspired by the cultural heritage of Pachacamac.
Explore the Pachacamac Archaeological Sanctuary, one of the most important religious centers of Peru’s ancient coast. Visit the Pachacamac Museum and discover significant Pre-Hispanic structures, including the Temple of the Sun and Acllawasi, while learning about the site’s history and cultural significance.
Accessibility: Transportation will be provided around the Pachacamac Archaeological Sanctuary, with opportunities to walk around and explore select sites. The museum is fully accessible.
Dress Code: Comfortable layers and closed-toe shoes. Please bring a full water bottle and a small bag to carry your personal items. We also recommend bringing sun protection, including a hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen.

8:30 AM - 12:30 PM | Hike with Llama Pack Project
Estimated Transfer time 30 minutes
Meet local llama farmers and learn about the traditional role of llamas in Andean communities and their importance to mountain conservation. Participants will join a scenic trek alongside the llamas and local herders, followed by a shared picnic at the rest station.
Accessibility: This is the most physically active option. The experience includes a 2 km/1.2-mile trek, is rated easy/moderate, and takes place at approximately 10,300–10,630 feet in elevation. The full experience lasts approximately 3–4 hours.

9:30 AM - 12:30 PM Pachar Pueblo Mural Project
Estimated Transfer time / 20 minutes
Explore Pachar’s colorful community murals and learn how local art is helping preserve the town’s cultural heritage. Participants will work alongside Pachar’s women artists to help create and paint a new mural, leaving behind a lasting contribution to the community.
Accessibility: No previous art experience is required, and the painting methodology is designed so anyone can participate. The experience also includes a 30-minute walking tour through the community; specific mobility accessibility information is not provided.

Attendees will be assigned to one of the two activities in advance. Please note that the activities are similar but take place with different communities, allowing us to expand the impact of the program. Attendees cannot change their assigned activity out of respect for the planning and preparation required by our community partners.
Connect with the living culture of the Andes through a community-led experience featuring a traditional gratitude ceremony to Pachamama and hands-on preparation of pachamanca. Learn about Andean agriculture, reciprocity, local traditions, and ancestral textile practices directly from community members.
Lunch is a traditional pachamanca featuring tamale, guinea pig, potatoes, sweet potato, plantain, meat, and chicken, with substitutions available based on dietary requirements.
